Macabre Monday #Ancient Evil

Ancient Evil

Think back to days of yore, the very distant past.
What sort of evil lurked in the shadows back then?
Slimy mythical monsters, devils, demons. Take your pick.
Please be sure to state what type of evil/monster you were
inspired by in your post. We like to hear what inspires you.

Devilish Notes.

For my contribution as a Design Team Member I decided to make a notebook from scratch. On those rare occasions that you have a clear up in your craft room ( LOL) I came across my zutter binding machine machine gathering dust. So decided to dust that little baby off and put it to use once again.
I used Terri's Devil May Care image ( http://deliciousdoodles.blogspot.co.uk/2011/05/devil-may-care.html ) as my focal point for the front cover. I embossed a piece of black 300gsm cardstock with an ancient script embossing folder. Cut to size to fit the front cover and gilded with DecoArt Metallic Black Shimmer. Glued to the front cover and four ornate corners attached. I then coloured the Devil using copics, fussy cut and then attached to the cover in a pleasing manner. A title banner was the composed in photoshop, printed on parchment paper and the attached to black 300gsm cardstock to give some stability. This was then applied also the front cover. The notebook was the  assembled and bound together using my zutter binding machine and voila a notebook for all your Devilish Notes. Hope you will join us in the dungeon over at Haunted Design House. Can't wait to see your Evil Creations.

Delicious Darkness Challenge # 2 Gotta Be Gothic.

For my second contribution as a Design Team Player I decided to alter a notebook. I started with a plain boring notebook, Painted the whole thing with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Carbon Black. Whilst drying I embossed a piece of black 300gsm cardstock using a Spellbinders 3d Embossing folder. I then Die cut the nested frames using A spellbinders Die set also in 300 gsm cardstock to give stability to the frame. Dorian Gray was then printed and coloured using Copic Markers and cut down to size to fit the frame. The embossed cardstock was then given a coat of DecoArt Metallic Lustre Gilding Wax in Black Shimmer to accentuate the embossing detail attached to the now dry notebook . A coat of DecoArt Media Matte Varnish was then applied to the whole of the notebook covers back and front to seal and protect. Once dry the frame was then added and secured in place using tiny silver brads. Sheer organza Ribbon was then attached as a finishing touch.

                                                                Finished Notebook.

Now much more appealing and to my liking. A fun project. Hope you will join us over at the Delicious Darkness Challenges blog and join in the fun with us creating art on the darkside.

Smeared and Smudged September Member Blog Hop.

It's that time again to participate in the Smeared and Smudged Member Blog Hop. The theme this time round is " MAKE A WISH" to be interpreted how you like. I decided to make a leather cuff so that when I put it on I make a wish to  become Fearless.
I started with a piece of leather cut to size and then cut and embossed using A gilded life Vintage Brocade Die from Spellbinders. I then added tiny silver studs and black ruffled lace to the edges. A Smeared Ink Digi Image Anatomy 101 Skull front was then printed and cut to size to fit a small silver bezel. Then filled with resin. Once set The bezel was then applied to the leather cuff. To finish two toggle clasps were added as fasteners.

Close up view of cuff.

                                                             Full view of Cuff.

Cuff in place on my Wrist.

A fun project and every time  I put it on will make a wish to be fearless.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read and be sure to visit the other blogs for more wonderful projects. Your next stop is Shoni.

Macabre Monday # Crimson Crimescene.

Crimson Crime Scene
is the name of the game, and we're looking for inspiration
from some of history's bloodiest crime scenes.
Think of Jack the Ripper, Ed Gein, The Black Dahlia,
Charles Manson, and even OJ Simpson
Please note as to who, or what crime you have chosen
as your inspiration in your blog post.

Blood being the key ingredient, we want to see some red
somewhere on your creation, as well.

This is an Image heavy post folks so bear with me. For my contribution I decided to alter a box ED GEIN style that is. Edward Theodore Gein was an American murderer and body snatcher. His crimes, committed around his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin, gathered widespread notoriety after authorities discovered Gein had exhumed corpses from local graveyards and fashioned trophies and keepsakes from their bones and skin.

Now how to make the skin you ask. Well I brushed liquid latex onto a non stick craft sheet and whilst still wet, added pieces of torn toilet tissue paper. As you add the tissue to the latex it takes on a wrinkly appearance which resembles skin. Once my whole sheet was covered ( quite a large sheet I might add ) another coat of liquid latex was applied on top and left to cure overnight. Once dry now the fun part begins. I cut the latex sheet into various lengths to covet the box. Once happy with the layout the latex skin was then stapled to the box to attach and secure. The box was then painted using DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics .

Finished Box Top.

                                                          Finished box Front View.

Now onto the inside. A place to keep your trinkets. The inside of the box was painted using DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics. A picture of Ed Gein ( obtained from the web) was printed and mounted onto chipboard and attached to the inside lid.  A scroll  was the compiled in photoshop and a quote from the Gein added. Printed , rolled and tied with twine. The box would not be complete without a body part right!!! So a bloody Ear made from latex was added for the finishing touch.

                                                                 Inside of Box.

                                                           Angled view of inside Box.

                                                          Close-Up of Quote on Scroll.

An enjoyable project. I hope you will come play with us in the Dungeon over at Haunted Design House.
