Saturday BATerfly with Smudgy Antics.

For my DT inspiration on the Smudgy Antics Blog I decided to alter a cheap plastic frame to house the fabulous BATerfly digi image available from Smeared Ink.

First I gave the frame two coats of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in black. Once dry I used DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Silver Spark to highlight all the raised detail on the frame and buffed to a high sheen. I then embossed a 300gsm piece of black cardstock and cut to size to fit within the frame and then highlight all the raised detail with DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Silver Spark. This was then attached to the frame.

I  resized the BATerly image 3 times in photoshop. Printed out on my laser printer and then ran the images through my new minc foiling machine with silver foil which highlights all the image edges to tie in with the frame. Coloured up with copics and then fussy cut and layered up each image with 3d foam to stand proud. The layered BATaerfly was the attached to the frame background Lovely.

Skull Box with DecoArt Media Line

I'm so loving the Media Line of products from DecoArt and have an altered wooden box to show today. I started with a plain wooden box, removed the hinges and fittings. I gave the box base and box lid a coat of DecoArt Matte Medium to give tooth to product that will be applied. I then Embossed some 300gsm cardstock and attached to the sides of the box  and box lid with DecoArt Matte medium. I then used DecoArt Modelling Paste applied through a stencil to the box lid. Whilst this was drying I used DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics to paint the sides of the box base. For the box lid I wanted the effect of carved wood and I think I achieved the look I was after. The lid was given a coat of Media Fluid Acrylic in black and once dry my stencil was then re positioned on the box lid and stippled with Media Fluid Acrylic in Titan Buff. A wash of Media Fluid Acrylic in Quinacrodone Gold was then applied. Once dried I gave the whole lid a going over with Andy Skinners Dirty wash treatment. Once dry DecoArt Crackle Glaze was then applied. Once this had dried a coat of DecoArt Black Antiquing cream was applied and wiped back to reveal all the lovely cracks. To finish the box base and lid was given a coat of DecoArt Ultra Matte Varnish to seal and protect. Quite pleased how this turned out.

Toxic Friday with Smudgy Antics.

For today's inspiration I decided to create a mixed media piece with some photoshop work thrown in for good measure. I created my background with Ink sprays and scanned into photoshop. I then coloured up the main focal image from The Toxic Ballerina Set available at Smeared Ink. Added in the Toxic Text, printed and mounted onto black mount board ready for framing.

Progressive Challenge Part Two:- using Aloha Nui

I'm back with my EDT contribution to the Rick St Dennis MFA Progressive Challenge over on the Sparkle and Glitter Blog

It's with summer in mind that we bring this little cutie for you all to use this month. The image is called Aloha Nui and available from the Zibbet store here. Those who played along with Part 1 last month will have received free this adorable image. If you didn't play along and get the freebie, you can still join us this month because she is available for purchase in Rick's Zibbet store.

I coloured the image up with copics and then fussy cut and set to one side. I created a background in photoshop and printed out. Inked the edges and then matted onto co-ordinating cardstock. This was then matted onto an 8x8 card base and the imaged attached using foam dots for dimension.

Be sure to pop over to the Sparkle and Glitter blog to see the rest of Team B's projects using this adorable image. We can't wait to see what you create with her.

Thanks for stopping by.

Emerging with Smudgy Antics and Smeared Ink.

Todays Inspiration for my DT piece over at Smudgy Antics for you uses an image from Teri Sherman entitled " Emerging " I decided to create a mixed media board.  I started with  heavy 300gsm cardstock and applied various washes using DecoArt Media fluid acrylics and set aside to dry. I then coloured up the image with copics. I scanned both the image and the background into photoshop. Added my quote and then printed off and attached to the chipboard base. Corners rounded and then inked  the edges with black.

Hope this has inspired you to join with our current Anything Goes Challenge over at Smudgy Antics. Just remember to use a smeared ink image on your project.
  Thanks for stopping by.

Haunted Design House April Monthly Challenge.

Are you ready for a new, macabre challenge? The theme for April is Going Green and there are multiple ways to interpret that, as long, of course, as it's also dark and macabre in some way. We don't want anything sweet and cute with spring greenery, bleurgh! You can either use the colour green somewhere in your project (the perfect excuse for zombie skin) OR you can make it about jealousy or envy (the green-eyed monster) OR you can go "green" in the eco-friendly way and up-cycle or re-cycle something. So come on Show us your most Gothic, Macabre, Twisted creations and revel in the dark side of crafting.

For my DT piece I decided to go with the theme of recycling. I decided to upcycle on old Hardback Book with some book page folding. I had been wanting to try this for quite some time and when I came across a couple of skull patterns I grabbed them to have a go. Which fitted nicely in with this challenge. I started with the page folding and created my skull design within. Then onto the covers. Painted the whole book black  with Decoart Media Fluid Acrylics. Then sealed with DecoArt Matte Media Varnish to protect. I then embossed two panels from 300gsm cardstock and attached to chipboard bases. The detail was then highlighted using DecoArt Metallic Lustre. I then Diecut a skull shape added Metallic lustre and attached to the base for the front cover. the same process was repeated for the back cover using a medallion diecut. These were then attached to the book and sealed with DecoArt Matte Media Varnish to protect. To finish A skull was added to a ribbon and attached to the inside spine of the book to double as a bookmark.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read. Hope you will join over in the Dungeon at Haunted Design House to share your own interpretations of the theme. Remember to keep it dark and gothic, not light and sweet. You have until May 3rd to join us and you can enter up to 3 creepy creations.

For my Third contribution I decided to create another ATC. I started by creating my background by smearing dylusions ink sprays on my craft mat in a circular shape and mopping up with the card. I then coloured up my favourite zombie sketch by Draegus Falls on Deviant Art with my copics. Scanned  both into photoshop  added the blood spatters and the Danger of infection quote, then printed out. The ATC was then attached to black mountboard for stability.

As an added bonus to my giveaway of all three ATC's created for this three day blog hop. I will also include my  Zombie handbook which was so fun to make too.
