Unlock your Destiny Andy Skinner Design Team project.

Hi all and thanks for stopping by. As promised here is a  rundown of how I created my latest project as part of the Andy Skinner Design Team.

  1. Take one of the bookplates from Andy Skinners Industrial Elements set and coat with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Raw Umber. Apply some petroleum jelly around the edges then apply a coat of  DecoArt Everlasting Chalky finish paint. When dry wipe back with a baby wipe around the edges to reveal the bse colour underneath. Stamp with black archival ink using Andy Skinner's new stamp set textures from Stampendous.
  2. next I applied DecoArt Extreme sheen in vintage brass to a plaster cast element from my own stash. Once dry a coat of DecoArt Antiquing crem in Patina was applied and wiped back with a baby wipe. DecoArt Media Texture sand paste was applied to one of the portholes with screw heads added from Andy Skinner's new release greyboard kits- Tagtastic. Then Andy's rust technique was applied once the Texture sand paste had dried. A vintage face from my own stash was then placed in the rusty porthole and DecoArt Triple thick glaze applied to protect.
  3. A metal key was attached with rusty wire from my own stash to the doorplate.  Half a cog and some matchsticks were glued to the back of the rusty porthole and painted with DecoArt Extreme sheen in Vintage brass. This was then attached to the bookplate at a jaunty angle.
  4. An Arch shape was cut fom  a Tando Grey board sheet and ran through an embossing folder. This was then given a coat of DecoArt Media Tinting base and when dry washes of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics in Transparent Yellow Iron Oxide and Raw Uber were applied drying between layers. A wash of DecoArt vintage wash in patina was applied and then wiped back.
  5. The base board was cut from a sheet of Tando Creative Grey board and given a coat of DecoArt Chalky Finish in Carbon. Once dry a wash was again applied using the patina vintage wash and wiped back. DecoArt Media Texture sand paste was then added around all edges and Andy Skinner's Rust technique applied and also to the small name plate.
  6. Finally all pieces were assembled and attached to the base and a title stamped from Andy Skinner's Steampnk Stamp Set from Stampendous.

Heres a close up of some of the detail.

Hope you have enjoyed this quick rundown of the process. As always thanks for stopping by.

Vintage Tag using Andy Skinner new release Stamps from Illusionary Artists and Stampendous

Morning all I have a tag to share with you today using one of Andy Skinners new release stamp sets from Stampendous and the new Illusionary Artists stamp set Word Up and Numbers. I  used the Textures set to create this grungy background for my tag along with the DecoArt Media Line of Fluid Acrylics and some Stampendous Embossing powders. I wanted to evoke the feel of a distressed plastered wall for my background which would fit perfectly with the textures stamps and I think I achieved the look I was after and am quite pleased how it turned out.

I created the background by first applying DecoArt Media Tinting Base to a tag die cut from greyboard.  I then brayered on the DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic colours until I achieved the look I was after. The textures set was then stamped onto the background using Watering Can Archival Ink. Two hearts were then die cut from greyboard and given the triple embossing technique then stamped into using Andy's Textures stamp set. I assembled the hearts together included some rusty wire and a rusty heart to finish and attached to the tag base. Fig x14 from the word up and numbers set from Illusionary Artists was stamped onto a piece of craft cardstock, trimmed and attached to the tag to complete.
