Haunted Design House New Challenge:-The Nights are Drawing In.

I'm back with a new challenge over at Haunted Design House. It's September, and that means Halloween is fast approaching! Are you ready? We Minions can't wait. But before we get there. we have September's challenge to share with you, and this month's theme is :_

The Nights are Drawing in.

 

As always, feel free to interpret that in any way your gruesome minds desire.

 

Something that traditionally comes out at night or an evening. Think Night scenes, Bats, Vampires Ghosts and Ghoulies or just use dark colours.

 Remember to keep it dark and creepy.

 

The inspiration for my piece came from  worshipping the Dark Arts which traditionally happens at night, so a Devilish inspired box was created to hold all the trinkets and stuff to practice those dark art rituals.

 

I started with a blank MDF box and gave it two coats of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Carbon Black. DecoArt Media Black Gesso was then applied to all sides and box lid to create texture. I then used DecoArt Media black Modelling paste through a pentagram stencil created and cut by me on my brother Scan n Cut. Also used a  fleur de lys stencil in all four corners on the box lid.

 

I then used Decoart Media black modelling paste through two border stencils on all four box sides. Once dry the stencils for the lid and box sides were re-applied and DecoArt Media fluid acrylic in silver was applied using a stencil brush. Once dry the box inside and out was given two coats of DecoArt Media Matte Varnish. To finish a Reaper Skull was cast and painted and added to the box lid.
