Halloween Lumiere and DecoArt

A quick and easy Halloween project using a small amount of  supplies I had in my craft stash. I altered a kilner jar ( found in the jam making section ) of my local hardware store. A spooky label printed onto inkjet vellum and attached to the jar . Techniques applied learnt in Andy Skinner's
Evil Elixir Mixer and Book of Secrets Workshops. Finished off with some fabric ( Halloween section ) in my local pound shop and tied with some string. Not forgetting the battery operated tealight also from the pound shop a bargain at three for a quid.

Introducing Sisters With Attitude.

I want to share with you a fabulous new medium to incorporate into your mixed media artwork called Craft Attitude. What better way to show you it's many uses is the Sisters with Attitude project put together by my good friend Trudi Sissons ( Two Dresses Studio ) and the Tumblefish Studio Creative Team which I am proud to be a part of using craft attitude and images from Tumblefish Studio ( Marsha Jorgensen ) @ Deviant Scrap. Most of the TFS Creative Team made art pieces using Craft Attitude art film for the first time to participate in this project and the results were amazing.
Craft Attitude isn’t transfer paper. It’s a new, patented technology that allows your printed inkjet image to be separated from its original paper carrier and become part of a new surface when applied. - See more  information on this by clicking on the link in my sidebar. So here we go in the first of my posts for this weeks Sisters.

First up the hostess herself Trudi Sissons who without all her hard work none of this would have been possible. A fabulously talented artist whom I am proud to call my friend. Head on over to Trudi's blog and peruse all the wonderful sights to behold.

Fifth up Marion Bockelmann aka Bockel24. I have been an admirer of Marions style for a few years now. A talented soul indeed.

The Octopode Friday Challenge.

It's Summertime over at The Octopode Friday Challenge Blog. The Theme to create anything as long as it has a summer theme. For my piece for the challenge I chose to make an ATC using Lily's Fabulous new image Clockwork Sun. I then decided to Zentangle it, fussy cut it out and attach to my ATC base. A sentiment was then added to the ATC . A fun challenge and great images to work with as always from Miss Lily.

HDH166-Stephen King Knightmare

I have participated again in the two weekly challenge over at Haunted Design House.

Our next Macabre Monday challenge is :
Stephen King Knightmare
Now not the sort of guy you would use as a muse to tell your kids their bedtime stories but for this challenge lets get sick and twisted and use the unhealthy mind of Stephen King as inspiration.  You can use his books, movies and comic books as your muse.
For my  contribution to the challenge I decided to take inspiration for the ATC I created from one of his Books.
MISERY.

The ATC was cut from mount board using the Tim Holtz ATC die. The main image was created in photoshop CS3 extended using a fabulous new digital kit Spiritus Mortis from Itkupilli Imagenarium available over at Deviant Scrap. This kit is full of delightfully gothic georgeousness and right up my street. The image was then printed out and attached to the mount board ATC base. Misery Personified.................. Another great challenge and enjoyable subject matter too.

Tag! Your it....The Octopode Factory Friday Challenge.

I have been an admirer of Lily's Images ( The Octopode Factory ) for quite awhile now and have finally gotten around to playing with them and what better way to start than a challenge hosted by the lady herself over at The Octopode Factory Friday Challenge Blog. This weeks theme:- Make a Tag any size, any shape any image. Well the very first image I ever purchased was The Raven and am so in love with it. So that was the image I decided to use for my tag. printed out and coloured with Copics, something very new to me, but am pleased with how things turned out. Mixed media background was cut to fit the mount board tag which was cut using the Tim Holtz tag Die. Distress Inked around the edges and a piece of black organza ribbon threaded through the loophole to finish.
RAVENOUS.

Had fun with this one, will be back to play again.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read.

Quoth the Raven Quest 20- Pick any Three.

I have participated once again in the current challenge over at Quoth The Raven. A site that I enjoy visiting and participating when I have the time in their Fabulous challenges. This time around is to pick any three items from the list provided and create what your heart desires as long as it relates to the Master of The Dark Arts- Edgar Allan Poe.

Choose thee ANY 3 items and create something which doth please thy artistic hankerings :-) But remember - thy offering MUST be related to Edgar Allan POE to be worthy of attaining the Prize.
Bring ye not thy slushy and mushy if it be not related to POE in some instance, for thou shalt not be rewarded.

RAVEN
RIBBON
EDGAR ALLAN POE
LACE
SCARLET
METAL
STITCHING
FLOWERS
FEATHERS
SKULLS
CATS

For My offering to the Master I have created a Dark Journal to keep note of all my Darkest Dreams and Desires. A Journal that has been Hand bound, Inked, Stamped and Grunged to within an inch of it's life. My three Items of choice were:- Poe- a picture of. Metal:- an Ornate Frame to house the picture of the Master and the closure of the journal and Skulls:- A Skull perched on a pile of books. Just had to throw a Raven in there too. You can't have Poe without a Raven right.......................

HDH164-Bare Bones.

I have participated again this week over at Haunted Design House Challenge Blog. A real challenge it was too, but overall I am pleased with the outcome of my efforts.

Our next challenge is :
Bare Bones

Free Skeleton Clipart

So basically this challenge entails not using embellishments, so CAS (clean and simple).

POISON TAG.

I decided to make a tag for the challenge cut from mountboard using the Tim Holtz Tag Die. This was then inked using Black Soot Distress Ink. I then whisked up some washing up liquid in a bowl to get some nice frothy suds. The tag was then dipped into the suds and blasted with the heat tool. This creates a wonderful grungy background as the suds react with the ink. I then stamped my images using an Oxford Impressions Halloween Stamp Plate, fussy cut and adhered to the tag. Instead of ribbon I decided on some chain link to hang the tag.

Quoth The Raven Quest 19- Anything Poes.

I have participated this month in the challenge over at Quoth The Raven. A challenge I have missed but am glad to be back participating in again. The theme this month:- Anything Poes. So I decided to make a little Tag book in memorium of the Master of the Dark Arts. I satrted with a large Craft Tag, inked, distressed and stamped and embossed in black on the front panel. The main book pages were then compiled in photoshop, then printed out onto parchment paper. The pages were then arranged into signitures and bound into the tag. The tag was then folded at three and a half inch intervals to create the book and flap fold over. A gold twine with black tassels was then threaded through the tag hole to create a closure for the book. An enjoyable progect and one which I hope you will try with your tags. An image heavy post Enjoy..................

I am participating in another of Andy Skinner's online classes again. This one called The Book of Ruination. A lifetime workshop so you can work at your own pace with a free Rock Your Book workshop thrown in for good measure. Two for the price of one.........A bargain in my book ( excuse the pun ). If you haven't taken one of Andy's classes before I would highly recomend doing so, you WILL NOT be dissapointed I can assure you. An amazingly talented bloke who shares his techniques so you can produce some amazing work which can be transferred across many substrates. I Just love it.....................So here is my first of three books complete. A Gothic theme of which I'm very partial to. Rather pleased how this turned out.

HDH 163 Dante, A Divine Comedy

Time for another challenge over at Haunted Design House. This weeks theme is about Dante.

The Divine Comedy/ Dante's Inferno

I'm sure most of you know at least the rough gist of the story, Dante battling through the different levels of hell, so the challenge is not to read the Divine Comedy although you can, but to create something inspired by Dante's time down under.

Dante passed through.
Now you can pick a circle of Hell that appeals to you or feel free to sum up Dante's time as a whole, or just a wild Hellish vision of your own.
So for the Challenge I decided to create an ATC with the theme Purgatory based on the 9th Circle of Treachery. My image was created in Photoshop then printed, cut and mounted on to the ATC base cut from mountboard. The edges were then stamped with gold leaf ink as a finishing touch.

A Great challenge. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read.

HDH162-Drop Dead Georgeous

It's that time again for another challenge over at Hauntaed Design House. I have really missed participating in the challenges there as they are one of my favourites. But now I am back in the swing again after a short absence. So here is what I have created......................

Our next challenge is :
Drop Dead Gorgeous

Think corpses, zombies, grave digging or even our old favourites, vampires!

I decided to create an ATC for the challenge. I cut my ATC from Mountbard as I love the sturdiness this gives. I then created a spooky background in photoshop printed out and adhered to the mountboard base. My main figure of the piece.......Elvira Mistress of the Dark ( thanks to Mestadelsbilder's ) a Delightfully Georgeous Creature that she is. Resized in photoshop to fit, printed out and attached to the ATC base.
Voila.........a fun and quirky comic book style ATC  that was fun to create.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read.

Back after a long Silence.....................

Hello all has it really been nearly four months since my last post..................I really have neglected this blog!!!! It has all been down to a family crisis involving my daughter, seperation from her partner and a custody battle for the kids. Mum to the rescue to help sort things out..............Things seem to have settled for the moment but there is still a long way to go before all is resolved. Explains why I have been absent in blogland as well as my favourite challenges to boot. Well all is about to change. During all this I have still been active in creating Just......... I might say not as much as usual. Over the next week I have a lot to post so hang in there folks.  So over at Deviant Scrap there is a new designer in the house. Some of you may be familiar with her works as am I and I have loved her collage sheets for the past two years and have quite a collection in my private stash. So it is my pleasure to welcome Itkupilli Imagenarium into the fold. Here are some artworks featuring her fabulous kits all availble in her store Itkupilli Imagenarium over at Deviant Scrap.
