Smeared and Smudged November Member Blog Hop.

This months blog hop theme over at Smeared and Smudged is to alter something. The only rule in participating is it has to be stamped somwhere either Rubber or Digi.I chose to alter a box using as my main image the fabulous Digi Stamp from Smeared Ink :- Anatomy 101-Skull Front. The box was constructed with a hidden surprise inside. So how did I do it? Here's the details...........
I first took a plain wooden box and covered in crinkled and crunched heavy paper stock. Gave tthis a coat of Americana Lamp Black acrylic paint inside and out. Once dry I dry brushed Americana Dazzling Metallics Black Pearl acrylic paint all over the box to highlight all the lovely crinkled detail. Then on to decorating the top of the box.

BOX TOP VIEW.

I started with a piece of mountboard cut to fit the top. Inked and stamped until I was happy with the background. Printed the Anatomy Skull front stamp 6 times and fussy cut and layered up. Colored with Markers and then dipped into the melt pot to give it strength and dimension. ( Thanks Blackdragon for the inspiration). Attached the skull to the stamped mountboard then attached to the top of the box. Added a Gothic Label to complete.

BOX FRONT VIEW.

Then on to completing the suprise element of the box.
I cut a piece of mountboard to fit, inked and stamped to match the box top. Stamped a clock face cut out and glued to the background. Printed out and fussy cut and layered Anatomy 101 skull again and coloured and dipped in the meltpot. Used my awl ( pokey tool ) to make a hole in the skull and then attached Vintage brass clock hands to the skull. Then glued in place on the clock face. The mountboard clock face was then attached to the inside top of the lid and secured with vintage brass hinges. A Tim Holtz Hitch Fastener was then attached to the bottom Right corner of the mountboard clockface so when opened can rest on the edge of the box keeping it upright and in place.

                                                                   BOX OPENED

To finish the box off a vintage brass clasp was attached as a closure. A fun project with so many possibilities I hope you will give it a try. I'd love to see if you do. Go check out the other members blogs to see what they have created. THE BLOG ROLL IS ON MY SIDEBAR.

TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA........
This week I decided to make an ATC in the style of the old B Movie. I used the Tim Holt ATC die to cut my atc base from mountboard. The background and characters where then created in photoshop using a kit from Finecrafted designs over at Deviant scrap HERE. Cut out and attached to the mounboard base. The Scary woman was then fussy cut and attached to the ATC using 3d foam tape to give some depth and dimension to the piece. Another great challenge.

Quoth the Raven Quest 14......Anything Poes

For this months quest over at Quoth the Raven the theme is anything Poes. To create anything which your heart desires. I have taken delight in altering a Perfume Bottle and hope it will appeal to the Master in it's Dark, Silky Succulence. I created the label in photoshop, printed out and attached to the front of the bottle. Altered the bottle top to look like stone from an ancient grave yard. Dyed the tassel string and attached around the neck of the bottle. Voila Eau de Poe.............

The label on the back reads:- A Deep Dark and Mysterious blend full of Decadent Evil that will stir your Darkest Desires. With a Bouquet of Beautiful but Poisonous Blooms. Use with Extreme Caution................

Eau De Poe front view.

Eau De Poe back view.

A very enjoyable time I had creating this for the Master and hope that it meets with his approval. Till the next time...................

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece

that has anything to do with Vampires. Lots of vampires!
Tribute to the unholy Vampire!!
Fangs, blood, sensuality.
We want to see your interpretation of the beautiful or the deadly Vampyre.

NOSFERATU.

This week I decided to create a Digital Illustration entirely in Photoshop. A Dark and Mysterious piece just like the Vampyre Nosferatu himself. I hope I have captured the deadly feel to the piece. Another Great challenge this week. I am having so much participating.

I cut the ATC from mountboard using the Tim Holtz ATC die. Created my cemetary and Tombstone background in photoshop. Printed out and attached to the ATC mountboard base. Created the winged skeleton in photoshop also, printed out and fussy cut. Then attached to the atc using foam tape to give some depth to the piece. A fun challenge, enjoyed this.

Haunted Design House Challenge 154- Bats in the Belfrey

I have participated again in the weekly challenge over at Haunted Design House. This weeks theme:

"Bats in the Belfry"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that has anything to do with a bats. Think belfries, church steeples and all round general battiness!
I decided to create a physical piece this week rather than a digital piece. I decided on a book but with a hidden surprise. Are you ready to take a look................Here we go then.

The front and back covers were designed in photoshop, printed out and attached to chipboard covers both font and back and insides. Antique brass corners were then glued to all four corners of the front cover.

The inside of the book holds the surprise. Two altoid tins with the lids removed. Covered the sides of the tins inside and out with fancy paper and lined the bottom of the tins also. Attached Hinges and a fancy clasp in antique bronze to join the tins together. The tins were then glued to the front and back covers to form the basis of the book.
Now for the surprise inside..............

Bats of course..........hanging around after just wakening from their slumber. Ready to take flight into the night by the light of the moon. Another great challenge, really enjoyed this one as I'm a spooky kind of gal.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read.

Creepy Cryptids HDH 153

Over at the Haunted Design House this week the challenge is Creepy Cryptids.

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that has something to do with a creature or plant whose existence has been suggested but is unrecognized by scientific consensus and often regarded as highly unlikely! Think Loch Ness Monster, Yeti, even Faeries.
I chose to base my entry on the Chupacabra. As to what sort of animal the chupacabra might be, the question is hard to answer because this cryptid is so weird. Its name means "goatsucker" and that is what it allegedly did: it attacked livestock and sucked their blood like a vampire .Constant features include large eyes that are usually red or orange and about the same size and shape as an egg, a mouth full of big fangs, sharp claws on the hands and feet,  three-toed hind feet that might also be webbed, and a hind portion shaped like a kangaroo with oversized legs for jumping. The top portion of the body looks stunted and scrawny in comparison with its massive hindquarters.

CHUPACABRA.

So here is my interpretation of this weird little Cryptid. Created in photoshop for your viewing pleasure. My Chupacabra does not suck the blood of goats but instead prefers the blood of humans. Preserving the skulls of his victims as a reminder of his conquests. Another great challenge to stretch my imagination.

Quoth The Raven-Quest 13 Some Words With a Mummy.

My friend Mark over at Spesh Ink pointed me in the direction to a wonderful Dark and Gothic Site....Quoth the Raven, Nevermore. A poe inspired site with some wonderfully Dark and Erie Challenges, which are oh so very me. The challenge of the theme posted is " Some Words with a Mummy". You are to create an art piece using the masters tale as inspiration.

Quote: "Come to me, by all means, my dear good friend, as soon as you receive this. Come and help us to rejoice. At last, by long persevering diplomacy, I have gained the assent of the Directors of the City Museum, to my examination of the Mummy --- you know the one I mean. I have permission to unswathe it and open it, if desirable. A few friends only will be present -- you, of course. The Mummy is now at my house, and we shall begin to unroll it at eleven tonight".

So here is my offering to the master in depiction of the tale told to which the Master doth favour.

KEY TO HAMUNAPTRA.

The key to Hamunaptra which fits into the cover of the Book of the Dead to ressurect life.Guarded and sacred to the mummy who wishes to return from the afterlife. The key was constructed in card from a template. The ancient mummy of which now remains only a skeleton and delicately wrapped in embalmed bandages. Dare we use the key to open the book of the dead and bring the Mummy back from the Afterlife?

A fun challenge in which I will definately participate again. Thanks Mark.......

Chain me up Chain me Down HDH152

Over at the Haunted Design House for the Macabre Monday Challenge this week you are to create a dark art piece that has something to do with Chains, Shackles or Bondage. I immediately thought Mmm Werewolf, Chained, Full Moon..........Lovely. So here is my offering for the challenge this week.

BAD MOON RISING.

This piece was created entirely digitally in Photoshop after scouring my external hard drive for some Dark and Gothic Images I have collected over the years. Hope this piece is acceptable for this weeks challenge. Had a blast creating in my comfort zone of the Dark and Mysterious.

"I'm Melting" Macabre Monday Haunted Design House Challenge.

The theme this week over at Haunted Design House is to base your project around melted wax, candles, witches, or melted flesh.

TOTAL MELTDOWN.

I opted to make a cut and paste ATC again this week. The ATC was made using the Tim Holtz ATC die amd mountboard.. The background was created in photoshop using elements and brushes from my stash. The melting head is an actual photograph of a Halloween mask scanned in and manipulated in Photoshop with the body of a vintage image attached. Printed everything out. Then attached the background to the mountboard ATC base. Cut the head and body out and glued to the ATC. Voila a pretty creepy specimen indeed. Thanks again for another great challenge this week.

" OH MY GOURD" Haunted Design House Challenge.

I haven't participated in a challenge for quite awhile and thought I'd jump in and give this one a go. It's all down to my friend Mark over at SPESH INK for the inspiration to participate. The theme this week over at Haunted Design House is to base your project around Pumpkins. So here's my contribution to this weeks challenge.

I have made a cut and paste ATC. The ATC was made using the Tim Holtz ATC die. The background was created in photoshop using elements and brushes from my stash. Mr Scary Pumpkin Head was also created in photoshop with the body of a vintage image attached. Cut the body and head out and glued to the ATC. Glossy accents was then applied to the Pumpkin Head to give dimension. A fun challenge will have to participate again. Thanks Mark.
